Kodak Receives Notice of Initial Determination in ITC Patent Infringement Action against Apple and Research In Motion

ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 21, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Eastman Kodak Company today announced that it has received notice of the Administrative Law Judge’s (ALJ) initial determination in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) action brought by Kodak against Apple Inc. and Research In Motion Limited (RIM). The ALJ concluded that the Apple iPhone 3G and the accused RIM BlackBerry devices infringe Kodak’s patent, although his recommendation is that the patent claim is invalid.

Pirate Wings now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook

A new 3D game has made its way to the BlackBerry PlayBook today.  Now this isn’t exactly a new game, as it has been around for a while on iOS, but it has been ported over to work on our PlayBooks.  Now when we say “port”, we truly mean a straight port as there are stil some references to iPhone in the tutorial.  Either way this is still an awesome game.

RIM reaches deal with Ingram Micro to distribute the BlackBerry PlayBook to re-sellers

RIM and Ingram Micro has reached a deal that will help to make the BlackBerry PlayBook a more common name in the UK.  RIM has reached an agreement that will allow for Ingram Micro to distribute BlackBerry PlayBooks to re-sellers throughout the UK.  Hopefully this will help RIM gain a little more market share in an ecosystem that is dominated by iOS and Android.

DesktopBridge app will allow you to BBM from your desktop

The gang over at N4BB have spotted a new app that is awaiting approval from RIM to get into AppWorld.  The app is called DesktopBridge from developer  Xitij Ritesh Patel, and it will basically allow to access any Bridge apps from your PlayBook from within a browser window on your desktop.  The app uses a SSL connection with your PlayBook and will wirelessly allow you to access your Bridge apps.

BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0.1 Security features explained

When Alec Saunders first made a statement regarding how RIM was going to do to curb piracy on the PlayBook everyone assumed that RIM was going to eliminate side-loading of apps.  Saunders was in fact not referring to side-loading, but rather the efforts that have been baked into the PlayBook OS 2.0.1 update to help deter piracy.

New BlackBerry commercials arrive in the UK

Today RI has released three new BlackBerry commercials in the UK that highlight what they feel are the best-selling features of the BlackBerry 7 devices.  The basic premise behind all of the commercials are that ”There are people who don’t, and people who do”.  This theme was previously seen in some advertising that came out a few weeks ago in the UK, and it looks like RIM has decided that it is working.

InstaBook – Instagram Client for the BlackBerry PlayBook?!?

I was browsing through App World on my PlayBook this morning and came across this new application called InstaBook- Instagram client for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Now I am not a huge Instagram fan but I do occasionally use the application on my Galaxy S2 so when I saw this app I thought great now I can use Instagram on my PlayBook. Judging by the description below this application is not really an Instagram Client, number one “registration for Instagram is NOT required”? Huh? Hit the break for more.

BlackBerry 7 and 7.1 Operating Systems Approved for Use by Australian and New Zealand Governments
